saint-germain-des-pres onion biscuits: French Fridays with Dorie

How much do I love these?  VERY MUCH.  And since I started Weight Watchers recently (oh, thank you chocolate truffle tarts and rugelach...you know what you did!), these are a glorious ONE Point each.

Adding the onions is a stroke of genius (Dorie's, not mine!)

My weapon of choice for the cutting  - these pastry cutters sure worked fine.
Set to 1.5 inches and cut up and down, then across and voila!

One lonely little circle among the square soldiers going into the oven.
That one just happened to pop in my mouth right out of the oven.

So good, they deserve another photo!

So I guess you can tell that I LOVE these biscuits.  Another wonderful recipe from Dorie Greenspan's Around My French Table.  To see what others' did with this recipe this week, you can visit French Fridays with Dorie.

  1. That pastry cutter is something else, I don't think I ever saw anything like
it before. Your biscuits look so delicious and have such a lovely color to them. Hubby and I enjoyed them and to save on calories I put half in the
freezer for another time. Reading further on your blog, let me just say
    the Rugelach looks wonderful.

  2. I like your square shapes. Very practical and pretty. Hubby does weight watchers and when I turned mine into BLT's, he groaned, but not too much. But...my baking program doesn't match the lifestyle he struggles to maintain...so I'm sorry, but I understand what you are saying. And, I've gained a few over the past year and a half doing these cook along blogs. I need to figure things out better.

  5. Great pastry cutter! One of the curators was featuring that on Open Sky - I wish I could remember who because now it's bugging me :-)

    1. Yes Cher. Open sky is where I got the cutter. May have been Buddy Valastro. I've used them to make dog treats (very tiny so they don't gain weight). And now for the biscuits. I still need to tackle homemade pasta. Maybe one of our recipes will make me?
